About the Artist - Cathy Gammel

Catherine Arms Gammel is the founder of Blue Feather Metals. A Colorado native, she grew up along the Front Range. While earning a fine art degree in metalsmithing from Colorado State University, she explored other interests in architecture and functional space by studying interior design. For almost 20 years, Gammel worked creating wearable art in gold and silver, which she sold through art shows and galleries.

Now she combines all her passions and works on a much larger scale, creating stunning, functional art for architecture from a variety of metals. Some of the techniques she employs are as ancient as working metal itself- and some are cutting edge. Each unique piece is created in her studio in the high country of Colorado, where she works along side her husband Doug. Their lives are made complete by children Josh and Samantha, and their goofy dog Storm.

• All items are made to order. Full payment is required and no returns are accepted.
• No tape of any kind should be used on sealed product
• Metal will dent if hit or bumped
• Sealant can be scratched
• Sealant is heat and chemically resistant for durability and versatility

Metal Tile information

• Tiles are ¼ inch thick. Custom thicknesses available.
• Tiles should not be cut. Custom sizes can be made for your installation
• Do not float grout.
• Hand grout or caulk only.
• Sanded grout will scratch the sealant
• Tiles can be set with either mastic or thin-set
• Tile is backed with cement board
• Some tiles available without sealant
• Some tiles will have a rough and varied texture either from the etching process or patination process

Sealant

• The VOC compliant sealant meets California standards for emissions
• Chemically resistant for easy cleaning
• Heat resistant for stove and fireplace applications up to 450 degrees

Adhesive and Backer

• Adhesive is VOC compliant
• Backer is tile backer board

Packaging and Shipping

• We ship in boxes made from recycled cardboard
• Our packing material is newsprint from our local newspaper
• We encourage recycling of all shipping materials

• We recycle 100% of our scrap thus completing the circle
